1978, Food Bank of the Rockies was originally known as the Colorado
Food Clearing House. Operating from a 900-square-foot schoolroom in
Northwest Denver, the fledgling organization collected bread from a
nearby Safeway store, our first food donor, and distributed it to
Little Sisters of the Poor, our first partner agency. Today, Food
Bank of the Rockies has extended its reach across Northern
Colorado, providing food and supplies to more than 800
hunger-relief programs. Food Bank of the Rockies has over 200
employees at distribution centers in Denver, Wyoming, and the
Western Slope. - About Denver Location We coordinate with more than
800 Hunger Relief Partners throughout Colorado and Wyoming, acting
as a distribution hub for food, essentials, and logistical
resources. We also operate our direct programs, providing for those
in need through Mobile Pantries, children's programs, and senior
delivery services. Everything we do is fueled by the support of our
community and donors, and 96 cents of every dollar goes directly to
distribution. Summary The Volunteer Operations Lead is responsible
for ensuring the positive tone, environment, and success of the
in-house volunteer experience. This position organizes the safety
and flow of the work area for both setup and breakdown. It also
provides hands-on support to the volunteers throughout each shift.
This lead role requires good communication skills both in
public-facing circumstances as well as working closely with Food
Bank of the Rockies (FBR) staff regarding efficient placement,
movement, and proper storage of items. Essential Functions :
- Oversee all volunteer areas with job site set up including
proper placement of food, boxes, and supplies.
- Ensure an exemplary experience for the volunteers from the
beginning of the process through the end of the experience.
- Orient volunteers to the FBR's mission, and various programs
based on talking points provided by development and marketing
departments.
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly volunteer needs with the
programs, volunteer, operations, and inventory teams and integrate
them into the master volunteer schedules.
- Utilize FBR's volunteer management program to access volunteer
records and schedules.
- Assist with processing re-call items received from Feeding
America (FA) and monitor for compliance.
- Maintain FA & FBR sanitation and packing standards with various
types of food products (frozen and dry) and communicate safety
standards to volunteers.
- Rotate the product to be worked.
- Maintain the warehouse in a neat, clean, and orderly manner,
with daily housekeeping duties according to AIB standards of
practice.
- Organize and clean the volunteer area at the end of each shift
and the end of the workday.
- Work with Operations Manager to implement safety plans for
volunteers to track volunteer injuries.

- Uses heavy equipment daily, including forklift,
stand-up/sit-down lift truck, step-up pallet jack, and automatic
pallet jack.

- Indoor office and warehouse environment frequently; outdoor
work environment occasionally. -
- Ability to push and pull up to 2,000 lb. pallets with a manual
pallet jack.
- Frequently lift more than 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or
feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms,
balance, stoop, crouch or crawl, lift, bend, talk, and listen.

vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus. - Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree
preferred; or equivalent work-related experience.
- Minimum 2-4 years of volunteer and/or warehouse operations
experience
- Experience with warehouse management systems a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel,
and Outlook
- Experience using collaborative tools for file storage and
sharing, meeting scheduling, and virtual collaboration preferred
Expected Hours of Work: - This is a non-exempt, full-time position
working a Monday through Friday work week. Work schedules may vary
and may consist of Saturdays as needed, and special events (i.e.
Volunteer Appreciation) Position Title: Volunteer Operations Lead
