Job Title: Executive Director for Marketing and CommunicationsPosition No: AF0205Reports To: President FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARYThis position provides leadership, management and administrative direction for comprehensive marketing and communications services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Serves as a senior advisor to the President for issues related to marketing and communications.
Works collaboratively with the President, the Vice President for Student Services, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Vice President of Community College Affairs, the Director of Athletics, Vice President of Intergovernmental and Community Affairs,and the Vice President of Development in effectively establishing and meeting the role, mission, and goals of the university.
Works collaboratively with the president and senior leadership team to establish CMU's brand strategy, including but not limited to positioning, personality, and visual identity.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the following areas: Marketing, Web Development, Social Media, Creative Services and the university's news hub CMUnow.
Ensures integration in messaging and communications across paid, earned, owned and social media
Develops and implements successful public outreach and marketing programs to increase the visibility, presence and name recognition of CMU and WCCC.
Works collaboratively with the AVP for Enrollment Management and the enrollment management task force to implement communications programs that support enrollment and re-recruitment goals.
Administers the contracts for third party marketing and advertising services and marketing/communications technology software.
Develops and implements a comprehensive digital strategy to accomplish strategic communication goals that support achievement of the university's strategic goals.
Oversees the university's trademark licensing program ensuring trademark protection and works collaboratively with the general manager of The Maverick Store, athletic director/staff and others to grow royalties from licensed merchandise.
Manages the university's marketing and advertising budget.
Serves as a member of the Crisis Response Team
Initiates and develops relationships with community members and community organizations to promote the university and its programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position reports to the President. This position directly supervises the following positions: Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications Senior Graphic Artist and Brand Manager Graphic Artist and Creative Projects Manager Digital Communications Manager Videographer and Media Asset Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEThe position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education; an earned Master's is preferred. Position also requires demonstrated, substantial experience in managing, marketing, and advertising, as well as experience managing diverse teams of people. LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read, analyze and interpret assessments, financial reports, and legal documents relating to the functional responsibilities of the job. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, faculty, administration, regulatory agencies or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to individuals, groups, management, and/or boards of directors. Ability to function in a team setting. REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in verbal, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to apply concepts of basic mathematics. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to create and manage complex budgets. TECHNICAL SKILLSProficiency in use of Windows operating systems and experience with Microsoft software applications.

COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $100,000-$127,000 per year
BENEFITSColorado Mesa University is authorized by the Board of Trustees to offer a broad array of benefits to its professional staff. The benefits are subject to change, from time to time, at the direction of the Trustees. Additional information about specific benefits and copies of plan documents may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources. To the extent this policy conflicts with the plan documents, the plan documents are controlling.
Benefits eligible Professional Personnel are employees who are Faculty, Administrators or Auxiliary employees of the University with an appointment of at least a 0.75 FTE during the fiscal year. Benefits are effective the first day of the month following the date of hire. If the date of hire is the first day of the month, benefits begin immediately.
