Job Description:The MRI technologist is responsible for
compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI
examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the
medical diagnosis or treatment of injury.ScopeAs the MRI Lead
Technologist you need to know how to:Works in collaboration with
department manager and physician leader to identify and drive
quality and performance improvement initiatives and communicates
this to the staff.Monitor and act as a resource technologist in the
daily operations and activities of the Medical Imaging
department.Communicates with patients, families, healthcare team
members, and physicians both in-person and via
telephone.Coordinates the preparation of films/exams and needed
documentation for physician partners- Establishes staff schedules
and training. Ensures staff competency through proper training
techniques and conducts performance evaluations- Provide technical
support and is able to perform all diagnostic procedures optimally
resulting in quality examinations necessary for diagnostic
purposes- Oversees supply and equipment inventory such that optimal
supply levels are maintained and equipment repairs and preventative
maintenance occur in a timely manner.Oversee/ follow-up Quality
Assurance and Quality Improvement processes.Enhances professional
growth and development through participation in educational
programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and
workshops.Presents and documents staff meetings as required.Assist
with Human Resource management functions such as interviewing,
selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance
evaluation, and policy and procedure development.Assigns, directs
and reviews the work of subordinate supervisors/other nursing
personnel. Prepares formal answers to, and recommends the
adjustment of, grievances and disciplinary
matters.QualificationsCurrent ARRT (R) (MR) registration,
requiredMinimum three years experience as an MRI technologist,
requiredCurrent Basic Life Support Certification, requiredKnowledge
of cross-sectional anatomy and skill in recognition of normal and
abnormal variantsThorough knowledge and understanding of the
principals and physics of magnetic resonance imagingKnowledge of
ACRPhysical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read
information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors,
identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with
patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require
employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand
spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and
accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual
dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate
equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent
computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing
needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to
lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will
also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including
heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with
transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing
supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and
portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to
navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on
the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary
