Summit Materials' operating company, Elam- Division of Kilgore, is looking for a skilled Asphalt / Aggregates Quality Control Supervisor in Grand Junction, Colorado. This role will be based in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Quality Control Supervisor will supervise our field quality, laboratory quality, training program, and quality technician staff to ensure hot mix asphalt, aggregate, and component materials comply with the applicable specifications. Conduct research and review the research of others to improve the company's product quality and profitability.

Position Summary:The Quality Control Supervisor will supervise our field quality, laboratory quality, training program, and quality technician staff to ensure hot mix asphalt, aggregate, and component materials comply with the applicable specifications. Conduct research and review the research of others to improve the company's product quality and profitability.
Position Requirements:

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Oversee collection and analyzing production and construction data. Recommend appropriate adjustments to production and construction staff to bring process into compliance with applicable standards and follow-up on actions taken to ensure anticipated results are obtained.
• Effective supervision of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
• Develop subordinates' technical and interpersonal skills.
• Assist with interviewing and hiring process as necessary.
• Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
• Work effectively with other departments to ensure work is done accordingly.
• Mixture Design: assist in development of design gradations.
• Looks for ways to improve and promote quality by communication observations.
• Other duties as assigned.
  Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) from a four-year college or university; or 7 or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • PE desired but not required.
  • HMA Plant and/or Paving Technician Classification preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety, the environment and transportation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of an asphalt and aggregates plants.
  • Required be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Required display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Required to be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Required to be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
    Knowledge/Skill Requirements
    • Must be familiar with local municipality and DOT specifications, such as sampling frequency, sampling methods, graduation requirements, quality requirements, etc.
    • Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant.
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback.
    • Must have a solid understanding of plant practices and quality control procedures.
    • Must be skilled in using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Stonemont.
    • Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly.
    • Ability to read, understands, and interprets architectural and engineering documents, as well as ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO Standards.
    • Must have strong problem solving and leadership skills; and
    • Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.
      Pay and Benefits:For positions based in Colorado or where a Colorado employee may be hired, it is required by state law to include a general estimate of compensation for the role. The below compensation range is intended only for Colorado and is intended to take into account numerous factors including relevant experience, and overall qualifications for the role.
      Base Annual Salary Range:$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 + Bonus
