Director of Laboratory Services

The Director of Laboratory Services is responsible for the day to day operations of the clinical laboratory. This position reports to the COO/CNO, but works closely with all Department Directors/Managers, and Executive Leadership and Administration to provide effective oversight of all aspects of the clinical laboratory. Priorities include quality and service excellence, which focuses on patient, staff and physician satisfaction.

Here are the primary duties of the Director of Laboratory Services:

Directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a hospital's laboratory services.
Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained.
Responsible for improving quality and clinical performance, maintaining compliance with all federal/state regulations and company policies.
Organize and facilitate department activities to deliver high quality care using standards based practice.
Recruit, grow, and lead a high-performing team. Build and sustain a positive and energetic culture within the organization.
Execute fiscal responsibilities, ensuring that the departments budget is correctly formulated and services are delivered within productivity measures.


Bachelors Degree in a related field; Medical Technologist Certification; MHA or MBA in healthcare preferred; Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with peers and leadership; Proven ability to bring excellent business acumen and resourcefulness to the management of the lab; Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and practices; and Minimum 5 years Management/Leadership experience.

This position's pay range is $53.00 - $63.60 per hour, depending on education and experience.

Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increases, market adjustments, recognition bonuses and other forms of discretionary compensation may be paid to eligible employees based upon organizational and individual performance.
