Occupational Therapist

Company: SCL Health
Location: Grand Junction
Posted on: January 17, 2020

Job Description:

YOU.

You bring your body, mind, heart and spirit to your work as an Occupational Therapist.

Your compassion is tangible: whether your patient is 18 or 85, they feel it in the hand they hold. Families feel it in your prayers. Colleagues feel it in your support.

You know when to move quickly. When to sit quietly. When to laugh loudly.

Youre great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Because you believe that while individuals can be strong, the right team is invincible.

US.

St. Marys Medical Center is part of SCL Health, a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare organization that focuses on person-centered care. Our 346-bed regional medical center is in Grand Junction, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Our mission is to bring health and hope to the poor, the vulnerable, our communities and each other.

Benefits are one of the ways we encourage health for you and your family. Our generous package includes medical, dental and vision coverage. But health is more than a well-working body: it encompasses body, mind and social well-being. To that end, weve launched a Healthy Living program to address your holistic health. Healthy Living includes financial incentives, digital tools, tobacco cessation, classes, counseling and paid time off. We also offer financial wellness tools and retirement planning.

WE.

Together well align mission and careers, values and workplace. Well honor each others dignity and surpass the standards we set. Well encourage joy, demand safety and take pride in our integrity.

Well laugh at each others jokes (even the bad ones). Well hello and high five. Well celebrate milestones and acknowledge the value of spirituality in healing.

Were proud of what we know, which includes how much there is to learn.

YOUR DAY.

As an Occupational Therapist you need to know how to:

Maintain established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Evaluate patient upon initial encounter to determine need for occupational therapy intervention and make referrals to other treatment team members as deemed appropriate.

Plan occupational therapy treatment program for each patient, based upon interpretation of evaluation results, interpret evaluation findings for patient, family, and treatment team members.

Develop realistic goals with patient input, explain treatment plan and goals to patient.

Implement treatment or supervise treatment provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, or occupational therapy student. Delegate routine care to supportive personnel as appropriate.

Terminate occupational therapy services when patient has attained maximum benefit from occupational therapy, provide in-service education to members of treatment team to ensure follow-through of treatment program.

Evaluate, record and report on patients progress for review by other members of the rehabilitative team. Communicate effectively with physician, other members of rehabilitation team and others as indicated regarding treatment plan and patient response to plan.

Complete all required documentation thoroughly and in a timely manner.

Conduct and participate in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives. Participate in educational programs and in-service meetings. Participate in continuing education program to ensure appropriate units are attained for maintenance of State license. Attend meetings as required.

Perform other related duties as assigned and requested.

YOUR EXPERIENCE.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy, required

Current license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practice, required

Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification, or obtain certification within one month of employment, required

At least one (1) year of experience in a setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility or department, preferred

YOUR NEXT MOVE.

Now that you know more about being an Occupational Therapist on our team we hope youll join us. At St. Marys Medical Center youll reaffirm every day how much you love this work, and why you were called to it in the first place.

Our facilities do not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability, or age in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its programs, services or activities, or on the basis of sex (gender) in health programs and activities
